Consider using a password protected WordPress blog. It’s very inexpensive to implement and you retain control of who accesses your website. Just enter the users, assign the rights you want them to have, approve them, and then send the user the log-in information. Casual visitors will only see a log-in page.

  • Controlled user access
  • Ease of posting and comments
  • Committee dedicated pages

Additions that can prove helpful are:

  • Voting (click the star)
  • File sharing (photos and documents)
  • Event calendar
  • Forms

Basically I found out it’s pretty easy getting started, but it takes time, time that a lot of people don’t have available to devote to creating a showcase for thier passions.

So what I have been doing is finding ways to help people setup a simple blog. The themes, plugin’s and tools that can make it an effective way to get thier ideas known and build a community of like minded people.

There are hundreds of individuals and groups dedicated to the expansion and development of the WordPress blog. Some create excellent themes like this one by My Mobiles. Others create plugin’s for just about anything you want to do. I hope to make my contibution by helping others get thier own WordPress blog.
